A Beer with Brussels Sprouts: They Made It

Belgium is a land of tradition for chocolate and chips but also for beer.

Nevertheless, in the heart of Brussels, two acolytes offer beers that combine audacity and modernity, in total opposition to the conventional beers found on the market.

The Brewksel brewery is the crazy and ambitious project of two young friends: Julien Romain and Anthony Vaccarello.

The story begins in 2016. The challenge has been launched: they will produce their own beer for their own enjoyment, but also for that of their friends.

Since then, passion has prevailed and Julien and Anthony spend their time brewing. They are constantly improving their recipes and creating new ones, with more and more originality.

By playing with many different ingredients and stirring without any constraints or limits, Brewksel discovered by surprise a first innovative recipe with the flavour of Brussels sprouts, Brewksel’s Proud.

After this first nicely transformed trial, the process began again with the creation of a blonde, the Sansho, which was subjected to 16 different trials over a period of 8 months.

Creator-brewers, Julien and Anthony currently produce at the brewery l’Annexe, located near the Parvis de Saint-Gilles.

You can also find their beers in certain Brussels bars and restaurants when the sanitary situation allows it.
