Always more flavours in the orchard

Alain comes from a farming family in Felenne, a village in the Belgian Ardennes. Joined by his wife Annick, he continued the family farm activities for many years.

Faced with the difficulties that farmers can encounter, Annick and Alain sometimes had to combine several jobs during their years of activity.

However, still passionate, the couple decided to start making jams with the products of their orchard, using the knowledge gained from years of experience in agriculture and market gardening.

That’s when the idea came to them. They decided to develop a new concept by processing the products from their orchard in a traditional and environmentally friendly way.

The problem is that in 2004, people were particularly sceptical about the future of this project taking place in a remote corner near the French border.

Despite everything, Annick and Alain redoubled their efforts, working on their products during the week and browsing the markets of the Namur region during the weekend to find their first followers.
Little by little, Les Saveurs du Verger found their brands and developed exceptional products thanks to numerous tests on people with extremely sensitive palates. A wide range of jams, vinegars, dressings, olive oils, fruit juices, spreads, which is constantly being improved thanks to the know-how acquired over the years.

In order to give her products an extreme subtlety, Annick selects as first testers people fasting in a centre in the middle of nature near Felenne. This is an excellent choice because, after a few days without eating, these people’s gustatory capacities are multiplied.

After 16 years in business, Annick and Alain can be proud of the know-how they have developed. Moreover, they are meeting more and more enthusiasts seeking to consume local and tasty dishes.

Arnaud, their son, joined them in their adventure. Currently finishing his studies in horticulture in Gembloux, he is developing, with Annick, new recipes around mushrooms in order to widen their already extensive range even further.

In accordance with their values, Les Saveurs du Verger only sell their products through various cooperatives, small grocery shops and short sales channels.
